Hey, everyone, we’ve got a couple simple DIY kits planned to start off the new year. The BB40 and BBPad work well together and they’re both just as ready to release so we’ll be running these 2 GBs at the same time.

The BB40 is a no-nonsense 40% minimal layout featuring an optional layout to support arrow keys and a position for an encoder in the corner below the top mounted BlackPill. The BB40 is fully compatible with our upcoming wireless BlackPill alternative, the PillBug. Along with all the keys and a knob, the BB40 will also come with indicator LEDs. The BlackPill and LEDs will be protected by the acrylic guard.

BBPad Prototype

The BBPad is a simple macro/number pad that can be used as a typical number pad or as a wider 5 columns by 4 row macro pad. The BBPad is powered by the BlackPill/PillBug and can make use of the larger processing power and memory to store all kinds of interesting macros and RGB LED options. Speaking of which: The BBPad sports per-key RGB LEDs and several underglow RGB LEDs around the perimeter. With the support of the PillBug, this board can be used with BlueTooth as well. Both MX and Choc switches are supported on the board, with MX spacing for both.
