KBS FLAT OUT
A motorsport inspired keycap set
INTEREST CHECK FORM
October 20 update: New renders and physical color sample photos added!
The idea behind Flat Out
Hi Geekhack, I'm Brian, sharing Flat Out on behalf of Shotlock’s studio, Sectorform.
Flat Out takes inspiration from classic racing liveries and the engineering behind lightweight race cars. The design brings some of that character to a keyboard: a light alpha field, dark modifiers, and yellow details that stand out without taking over the whole board.
The name comes from the racing expression “flat out” — going at full speed. The design takes inspiration from the feeling of committing to a corner, finding a clean line, and pushing through the next straight.
I'd love to hear what you think of the colors, novelties, and kitting. Your feedback will help shape the next stage of the project.
Colors
GMK WS1
PANTONE 548 C
PANTONE 7404 C
These are the target color references for the set. GMK WS1 is listed as a color reference and does not indicate that GMK is the manufacturer.
Renders are visual previews. Lighting, screen settings, and materials can affect how colors appear. Final production colors are subject to physical sampling and approval.
Physical color samples
We now have physical color samples from KBS! Below are photos of the samples mounted on a keyboard, along with a closer look at the colors.
These are color-development samples, not final production units. Please refer to the kitting images for the proposed layouts and legends. Lighting and screen settings can affect how the colors appear.

Kitting
Base Kit
Accent Kit — Replacement Keys
Accent Kit — Spacebars
The images above show the current proposed kitting. Please let me know if your layout is missing anything, including the key size and row where possible. Kitting may change based on feedback and production requirements.
Novelties
The novelties are my favorite part of the kit, featuring iconic racing cars I like. The Flat Out Enter design brings a race car into the rear-view mirror, while the novelty spacebars show a car from behind.
On-board renders
Additional renders showing Flat Out with different novelty and accent combinations.
Renders are visual previews. Please see the physical sample photos above for an additional reference.
Keyboards shown are for demonstration and are not included.
Vendors and availability
Vendors, pricing, and the release schedule are still to be confirmed. If you're a vendor interested in the project, please send me an email at [email protected].

I'm particularly interested in:
How you feel about the color combination.
Whether the proposed kitting covers your layout.
Which novelties you like and what you would change.
I'll keep this thread updated as the project develops. Thanks for taking a look and helping me improve the set!
