While the
MBK group buy is now underway (some prototypes have been received, the final ones are on their way and we are preparing for mass production), we would like to tackle another keycaps issue in the community:
Topre-compatible keycapsThere are not much Topre-compatible keycaps options available out there and it's a shame for THOCK aficionados who have to swap switch stems, or use MX adapters to be able to pimp their keyboards... So this
Interest Check will be a way for us to gauge interest and also help us decide which way to go forward to address this matter.
If you own a Topre keyboard, please reply !This project is more ambitious for us than MBKs as it implies more keycaps sizes/rows, so much more molds and also dye sublimation. We have skilled dye sub factories lined up to make this happen, and we are currently reviewing their processes and products to make sure we go with people who know what they are doing and will provide the best product available by requiring good QC.
After getting the IC replies, in a couple of weeks, we will be preparing kits for the different layouts, and gettings quotes from the factories. By leaving your email in the form we will keep you informed of how it evolves so make sure to fill it.
They will be
thick PBT (1.5mm), but no design nor profile has been decided yet!
Profile will most probably by OEM as it's the standard on Topre keyboards, but if the IC shows that many people prefer Cherry, we'll go for those.
Regarding the design, while we think BoW and WoB are must-haves, we would like to hear from you if you have any other ideas, we should hopefully be able to offer at least 2 or 3 design choices from the start (since MOQ is higher for molds making than dye sub).
