Description
UNTITLED NO. 1
My brother and I have been working on this project for a while now in our freetime.
Our goal was to build a 75% without removing any of the useful keys of a TKL (Scroll Lock and Pause Break are redundant and are only used in very niche scenarios - e.g. if you don’t have a mouse and you’re working in Excel or you’re looking to stop a text-mode program’s output to read the messages).
This eliminates the exploded 75% because it does not have enough space for “editing” keys (Insert, Delete, Home, Page Up, Page Down, End), which leaves us with the compact 75%.
From having seen many of them, we found none to be visually appealing. We wanted to change that and represent our design philosophy unto it.
Here’s the reasoning behind some of our design choices:
We removed the right Ctrl key and replaced it with a blocker on the bottom row to keep the modifier keys all consistent size. Without it, we feel it looks inharmonious. This layout has never been done before.
As the weight is the most expensive piece per gram, we placed it on the front because we believe it should be seen, and not hidden underneath. It should act as an accent piece and add boldness.
Rounding the corners on all four points adds softness, which enables us to add a lip on the back that wraps around seamlessly and that in turn creates a visual flow from the top view.
On the bottom, we added ridges for texture because it'd look boring without it.
I hope I didn’t come across as pretentious. I find it difficult to explain my design thought process from solely a visual standpoint because it’s always been more of a feeling to me.
We are open to feedback.
Two PCB options will be available: ISO and ANSI, accommodating users both from the country where we are based, the UK, and internationally. Both options offer hotswapability, per-key RGB lighting, and includes QMK compatibility.
